Volunteer Spotlight: Maddy Arne

This month, we’re excited to spotlight a different kind of volunteer—someone whose impact extends beyond the hospital walls.

Maddy Arne, a dedicated volunteer whose impact on Mission has grown over the years through her generosity, talent, and leadership. From supporting community events to strengthening our presence through digital marketing, Maddy has shared her time and specialized skills in ways that truly elevate our work. As a leader on Mission’s Young Professionals Board, she continues to help shape our future while expanding our reach in the community. We are deeply grateful for Maddy’s willingness to share these important talents in service of our mission and the families and pets we serve.

What first inspired you to volunteer with Mission Animal Hospital?

  • I was feeling a bit stuck in my day-to-day routine and wanted to use my professional skills to support a meaningful cause. I came across Mission on a volunteer matching site and was immediately drawn to how universal the need is, along with how unique their model is in helping people keep their pets.

You are not our typical in-hospital volunteer. Tell us about what you do for Mission.

  • I initially got involved by volunteering at community events, like bingo fundraisers at local breweries. Not long after, I shifted into supporting Mission through digital advertising, specifically Google and Facebook Ads, which aligns closely with my day-to-day work. I also now serve as a co-leader of YAPP, Mission’s young professional associate board, where I help plan and promote fundraising events.

Can you share one of your favorite moments or memories from volunteering with us?

  • One that stands out is leading a fundraising bingo event at Indeed Brewing. I invited a group of family and friends, and it was so fun bringing together people I care about at one of my favorite spots, all in support of a cause that means a lot to me.

What do you enjoy most about being part of the Mission volunteer community?

  • I’ve really loved the community that YAPP has created. I’ve met some incredible people, and the leadership team is genuinely passionate about helping people stay with their pets. That energy is contagious and makes it a really inspiring group to be part of.

How has volunteering at Mission impacted you personally or professionally?

  • Volunteering with Mission has been incredibly fulfilling. It’s given me a way to apply my professional skills to something that has a direct and meaningful impact, which makes the work feel even more rewarding. It’s also pushed me to grow as a leader through my involvement with YAPP, while connecting me with people who share similar values.

What do you wish more people knew about Mission Animal Hospital or the volunteer program?

  • I wish more people simply knew that Mission exists. That’s a big part of why I love working on digital advertising, it’s all about finding ways to reach more people, drive awareness, and ultimately connect pet owners with the care they need at an accessible cost.

Tell us a little about yourself outside of Mission — pets, hobbies, fun facts, or anything that brings you joy!

  • I don’t have any pets of my own yet, but I frequently puppy-sit my sister’s mini golden retriever, which definitely keeps me busy. My husband and I also love to travel and are always on the hunt for the best food wherever we go.
