Volunteer Spotlight: Ellie

Meet Ellie. Ellie is a sophomore at the University of Oregon and joined the Mission Animal Hospital volunteer team just over one month ago. In that short time, she has already volunteered 32 hours in the hospital. Ellie hopes to become a veterinarian one day, and her drive to gain as much experience as possible quickly shot her through the ranks of Hospital Support Volunteer to join the Advanced Surgery Practice Volunteer team. Ellie's shining smile and willingness to help make her a joy to have bopping about the hospital halls. She volunteers at multiple animal organizations in the Twin Cities, and Mission is so thankful to be counted as one of them.

Why is volunteering important to you and why do you volunteer with Mission Animal Hospital?

Volunteering at Mission Animal Hospital is important to me because it helps me gain experience with working in a veterinary environment.

What's your favorite volunteer task in the hospital?

I really enjoy volunteering for advanced surgery prep, it familiarizes me with all the surgical tools and there’s always something to do.

What do you do when you're not volunteering here?

I mostly just play rugby, study, and hangout with my friends and family.

Do you have any pets? If so, tell us about them.

Yes! I have two yellow labs named Cisco and Tony, and one tuxedo cat named churro.

Tell us about a pet that had a big impact on your life.

I’ve had my cat churro since I was ten years old, and she hasn’t left my side since we got her. She’s been with me through everything, and honestly she’s my best friend.

What's the most memorable moment in your time volunteering with Mission Animal Hospital?

Anytime I volunteer with Mission Animal Hospital it’s memorable. The staff are always so kind, and I get to be around cute animals!
