Meet Ciara. Ciara is a student through District 287's transition program which meets the unique transition needs of young adults aged 18-22. The program believes in a collaborative approach, bringing together staff, students, families/caregivers, and community providers to identify individual strengths and interests developing tailored plans that provide instructional and community opportunities to address various transition needs.Â
After spending more than 22 hours with Ciara in our volunteer program, we at Mission Animal Hospital are confident in reporting she is nothing short of a rockstar. Her kindness and work ethic will take her well past this transition and well into her next phase of life, and we are so excited to watch her soar.

Why is volunteering important to you and why do you volunteer with Mission Animal Hospital?
Volunteering is important to me because I have a heart for service and I am in love with animals.Â
What's your favorite volunteer task in the hospital?
My Favorite volunteer task is filling the flush syringesÂ
What do you do when you're not volunteering here?
I also volunteer at a senior center weekly. I really enjoy meeting the seniors and getting to know them.Â
Do you have any pets?
I have a 10 year old rat terrier/beagle named Snoopy. He is black and white, and looks exactly like Snoopy.Â
Tell us about a pet that had a big impact on your life.
My grandparents had a chorkie named Curly, and sadly he got put down last year. He had a huge impact on my life, and he was the sweetest dog ever.Â
What's the most memorable moment in your time volunteering with Mission Animal Hospital?
My most memorable moment was volunteering at the Mission Paw-Looza. It was a great experience for me to interact with people. It was a great day to have the event and the walk. I loved seeing all of the cute animals.Â
