Meet Michele, this month's Volunteer Spotlight! By day, Michele is a successful engineer and business owner, but she also knows the importance of stepping away from work to recharge and give back. She regularly volunteers long past a regular shift and in only a handful of months, she has volunteered well over 150 hours! Volunteering at Mission Animal Hospital offers her the perfect opportunity to clear her head, make a meaningful difference, and support pets and the families who love them. Volunteer Manager, Megan, always looks forward to seeing Michele in the hospital because she knows they will always share a laugh. Mission is grateful for Michele's dedication and are excited to share more about what inspires her to be part of the Mission volunteer team.

What first inspired you to volunteer with Mission Animal Hospital?
I learned about the MAH mission and opportunities when I was donating prescription food that my cat wouldn’t eat.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the Mission volunteer community?
The people are very caring and have good energy that’s contagious. I learn something new every time I’m at the hospital.
Do you have a favorite task, shift, or area of the hospital you love helping with?
I like variety and keeping busy. Getting familiar with the instruments and packing/ sterilizing process has been a lot of fun.
What do you wish more people knew about Mission Animal Hospital or the volunteer program?
A huge benefit of the volunteer program is that the schedule is completely flexible.
Tell us a little about yourself outside of Mission — pets, hobbies, fun facts, or anything that brings you joy!
I spend as much time as I can outside working in my yard and gardens. I enjoy figure skating and hiking with my family.
